REVIEW: Etude House NEW Play 101 Stick Collection (December Pink Bird Box)

Hi loves! :D Sorry for the mini disappearance; my school laptop and blogging laptop both broke down at the exact same time, so I was busy getting that fixed T^T... Anyway I'm back today with an exciting review: the new Etude House Play 101 Stick Collection! As some of you know, Etude House and the absolutely gorgeous Korean makeup artist, Pony, launched a new collaboration featuring an entire line of easy-to-use products which makes using makeup a breeze, even for beginners!

The Play 101 Stick Collection includes the Play 101 Stick Foundation, the Play 101 Stick Multi-Color, the Play 101 Stick Contour Duo, and the Play 101 Stick Brush. Just look at all the pretty colors!!

PLAY 101 STICK COLLECTION

PLAY 101 STICK FOUNDATION

A long lasting, multi-function foundation stick that glides onto skin creating a smooth and flawless-looking face with its soft and creamy texture.

The Play 101 Stick Foundation is available in 4 different shades -- #1 (Fair) being the lightest, followed by #2 (Vanilla), #3 (Beige), and #4 (Sand) being the darkest. I received the Play 101 Stick Foundation in shade #4 Sand! I usually have difficulty finding Korean foundations that match my NC30-35 skintone (more NC30 right now), so I was weary on whether shade #4 would be a match, but to my surprise it was a very close match, YAY! It is a teeny tiny bit too light on my skin, but contouring along the edges of my face makes it work and blend together wonderfully.

The foundation's texture is incredibly creamy and truly does glide onto the skin without any tug or pull. It feels very smooth and blends out like a dream! The foundation coverage is light and is buildable but only goes up to light-medium at best, but it's perfect for everyday lightweight makeup. The only problem I had with this is that the foundation starts to wear down and fade after about 4 hours, so you definitely need to either use a primer or set it with powder for it to last. All in all, I love how it's super quick and easy to use -- just swipe it on and blend it out!

The Play 101 Stick Foundation currently retails for $14.40 and is available at Etude House, HERE!

PLAY 101 MULTI-COLOR STICK

A multi-function color stick for eyes, cheeks, and lips that creates gorgeous color with a smooth and sheer finish.

The Play 101 Multi-Color Sticks come in numerous different shades from #10 to #15 and can be used all over the face including the eyes, cheeks, and lips! I received shades #11 and #13 in my Pink Bird Box. The Play 101 Multi-Color Sticks have very similar texture to the Stick Foundations; they're very creamy, smooth, and easy to blend!

Shade #11 is a brown contouring shade that I found to be slightly too orangey, but blends out really well. Shade #13 on the other hand is absolutely lovely -- it's a gorgeous rose gold shade with golden shimmers. However, shade #13 is a bit too light to have a noticeable impact as a blush on my skin tone, but it would be perfect for someone with fairer skin! I actually prefer to use #13 as a highlight along the tops of my cheekbones! Despite it having shimmers in it, it's not chunky at all and blends out to a beautiful sheer finish.

PLAY 101 STICK CONTOUR DUO

A creamy contour duo that adds definition and dimension to the face.

The Play 101 Stick Contour Duo is my absolute favorite item out of the entire collection! It is a double-sided contour stick that has a white ivory highlight shade on one end and a brown contour shade on the other. As a side note, the brown contour shade in the Contour Duo is totally different from the Play 101 Multi-Color Stick in #11! In my opinion, the brown shade of the Contour Duo is THE best shade of brown to contour with; it's not too warm or cool toned. Both ends of the duo are incredibly creamy and easy to blend with the Play 101 Stick Brush, or even your fingers, as is all of the products in this collection. Etude House did such a good job with that!

The Play 101 Stick Contour Duo currently retails for $14.40 and is available at Etude House, HERE!

PLAY 101 STICK BRUSH

Ideal foundation brush for flawless and smooth application of a stick foundation or multi-color sticks.

I am so happy that Etude House created and included this little brush into their Play 101 Stick Collection! It's a tiny little brush that is slightly bigger than my palm, but it surprisingly packs a punch. The bristles are densely packed and as soft as a kitten! It buffs and blends out the Play 101 Sticks effortlessly and creates a smooth, even, and flawless finish. It doesn't leave streaks with your makeup or anything!

The Play 101 Stick Brush currently retails for $11.70 and is available at Etude House, HERE!

FINAL THOUGHTS?

I am in love with this entire collection! All of the Play 101 Sticks were incredibly easy to use and I wish these were around when I first started using makeup years ago! All of the products in this collection - the Stick Foundation, the Multi-Color Sticks, and the Contour duo - are all very creamy and easily blendable. Plus, the Play 101 Sticks are travel-friendly and can be tossed in a bag for quick touch-ups or be brought when going on trips! The brush was also a perfect addition to the collection because it allows you to buff and blend the products to a flawless finish. I highly, HIGHLY recommend any and all of the items in this collection! :)

  1. Gorgeous! It's good to hear that they blend out well, and the finish looks really natural. #13 looks really pretty on you! I've read quite a few positive reviews on the Play 101 Sticks, so I just might have to pick one up~ Also, I love Etude House brushes :D They're pretty affordable but work really well. Better than Real Techniques, imo.
