Have you guys ever heard of a LIP POWDER?! Admittedly, I'm a huge lip product junkie from lipsticks, lip glosses, and especially lip tints, but I didn't even know lip powders existed! Essentially, they're highly pigmented powders that magically transform into a lipstick/lip tint of sorts once it touches your lips. There's very few on the market today since it's still a unique and innovative concept, but once I heard about it, I HAD to try it out!
Today, I'll be reviewing the RiRe Lip Powder Set, which comes with 4 bright shades + Lip Remover, courtesy of BB Cosmetic!
P.S. There's a coupon at the bottom of the post to save you some money off of any order on BB Cosmetic. :)
RIRE LIP POWDER
The RiRe Lip Powder has the boldness of a lipstick, the smooth application of a lip gloss, the long-lasting ability of a lip tint, and the moisturizing ability of a lip balm all in one product! Apply to the lips and instantly witness it transform into a light, moisturizing, and vivid color!

The RiRe Lip Powder Set comes with all 4 of the the lip powder shades plus a Lip Remover (15ml). Each individual lip powder comes in a cute little teardrop knob-shaped bottle. It has a conical shape that's round and fat around the body, but the twist off cap is more like a cone. It's cute, but I don't think it's practical mainly because of the stubby applicator.
First of all, even though all the products in the set are the same type of lip powder product, two of the shades have different applicators. Orange Pop and Fashion Red have a pointed applicator, which works well with precision since it can easily get into the corner of the lips as well as precisely trace along the edges. My only problem with this applicator is that it tends to get stuck in the bottle. It requires me to yank out the applicator, which ends up making a HUGE mess from the powder. Plus, I always have a feeling that if I yank it out enough, the applicator will eventually just fall off...
The other two shades, Hot Plum and Sugar Rose, have a more ordinary doe-foot applicator tip. This applicator works well too, but it's not as easy to be precise with as the pointed applicator. I prefer this one though because it doesn't get stuck in the bottle and goes in and out the bottle with ease! I have no idea why there's two different applicators in this set, but I'm assuming that one of these applicators is the "old" one while one is the newer version.
Secondly, the applicator is just way too short and is really awkward to hold. It's stubby and hard to get really good control over without having the edges of the cap hit against my lips during application. It definitely needs a longer handle!
The set comes with 4 different lip powders and from my knowledge there are only 4 shades available from the entire Lip Powder Line. You can either purchase your favorite shades separately, or as a set which comes with a free lipstick remover (and for a few bucks cheaper than buying it all separately).
The four Lip Powder shades in the set are:
03 SUGAR ROSE - Sugar Rose is a natural rosy pink. This formula was a little bit different than the other 3 since it was a little more fluid and moisturizing on the lips.
These Lip Powders have the coolest and most innovative formula! The moment you apply the powder to your lips, it turns into a wet or moist (*cringe* does anyone else hate that word?) texture that feels just like a lip tint. I'm not sure what kind of magic is in this since it's completely a powder in the bottle, but it's so fun to use! From the promotional photos, there appears to be water capsules inside the powder that burst once it touches the lips which turns it into a very fluid, almost gel-like consistency. This helps the Lip Powders glide on smoothly and effortlessly!
As you can see in my lip swatches above and the arm swatches below, the Lip Powders have a very 'soft-focus' matte finish. I absolutely love that about this product because the soft finish makes these perfect for everyday wear without compromising color. They dry down quickly and are incredibly lightweight on the lips - it actually feels like I don't have anything on at all! The payoff is amazing as these are saturated with color. Plus these are very buildable - 1 swipe gets you even semi-sheer color while 2-3 stripes will get you bold and opaque color. If you want a long-lasting matte lip product, but aren't a fan of liquid lipsticks, which can be pretty high maintenance or heavy on the lips, these are a great alternative! They're comfortable to wear without compromising vivid color.
These lip powders claim to be moisturizing on the lips, but I didn't find that to be the case. Though they do initially feel hydrating when applying, they quickly turn to a matte finish that doesn't feel moisturizing or drying on. They're just a sort of in between type of product, but I do recommend pairing with a lip balm if you'd like a bit more moisture. The lip powder goes on very smoothly and doesn't settle into fine lines, but it does emphasizes dry patches or dead skin. It's essential to exfoliate well before using this product or else it'll draw attention to rough spots!
As for longevity, the Lip Powders are relatively long-lasting when compared to the traditional lip sticks, but they are not transfer-proof. They're budge resistant and adhere really well to the lips, but there's minimal transfer here and there when you're drinking with a cup, eating, or wiping your lips with a napkin. I'd say these wear for about 5-6 hours before completely fading throughout the day.
The Lip Powders leave behind a very slight stain, but nothing on the level of a strong tint, so removal is pretty easy. If you're having trouble with it though, the set comes with the RiRe Lip Remover which has an oil-gel consistency that effortlessly melts the lipstick from the lips. It's a really handy lip product remover and works with just about anything!
FINAL THOUGHTS
Powdered lip stick is real and it's amazing! I actually prefer the RiRe Lip Powders over liquid lipsticks because they're much more low maintenance, lightweight, and easier to use. They give the same bold color as a lipstick and has the long lasting ability of a lip tint, though it doesn't have great staining ability on my lips. It's also not as moisturizing on the lips as I would like it to be once it dries down, so I'd recommend pairing with a lip balm.
The powder instantly transform into a moisturizing fluid consistency once it touches the lips and dries down to a very soft matte finish. I'm not sure how it works, but it just does, almost like magic! It's an all around great product, and is such a fun concept! If I could change anything though, it would definitely be the shape of the bottle and the applicator. It's just awkward to hold and it would be much easier to use if the applicator had a longer handle! It's not a huge problem though, and I do enjoy the actual product itself. I hope RiRe releases new shades, or more brands start joining in this lip powder trend. Beware though, it can get a little bit messy to use!

This seems to be a perfect product as far as makeup and brightening is concerned. But the catch that comes here is how to carry out its cleansing or removal effectively whilst restoring the original lip colour.
