REVIEW: Etude House Monster Micellar Cleansing Water

Micellar water is one of the few skincare essentials that I cannot go a day without. Ever since I picked up my very first bottle of this miracle water, I've never been able to put it down (shoutout to Simple Micellar Water for getting me hooked)! Micellar water is simply the easiest and gentlest way to give your skin a quick cleanse with no need to rinse. This is every lazy person's dream, right?!

I've been on the hunt to find an affordable K-beauty alternative, which led me to try the Etude House Monster Micellar Cleansing Water.

ETUDE HOUSE MONSTER MICELLAR CLEANSING WATER

The no-wash cleansing water gently yet effectively cleanses away eye and face makeup.

INGREDIENTS: Water, Propanediol, Hexylene Glycol, Polysorbate 20, 1,2-Hexanediol, Glycerin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Phyllostachis, Bambusoides Juice, Zinc Gluconate, Copper Gluconate, Calcium Gluconate, Magnesium Aspartate, Alcohol, Disodium EDTA, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Sodium Citrate, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Ethylhexylglycerin

PRODUCT WEIGHT: 300ml or 700 ml
RETAIL PRICE$11.66 for 300ml   |   $19.66 for 700ml (Jolse.com prices)

The Monster Micellar Cleansing Water comes in a clear plastic bottle and depending on the size that you choose, the product dispenser will vary. The smaller 300ml size (the one I have pictured) comes with a green flip-top cap and a small hole where you can pour out the product onto a cotton pad. The bigger 700ml size bottle comes with a clear cap and a white pump dispenser.

I wish the 300ml size also came with a pump dispenser as well for ease of use, but since it was my first time trying the product, I didn't want to commit to the bigger 700ml size!

The micellar water has a "Green Power Complex" which is derived of Aloe, Bamboo, and Green Tea extracts to help soothe and moisturize the skin. Alcohol is also on the ingredients list. As you may know, alcohol is an ingredient that can be drying and irritating on the skin for some people, but personally my skin is not sensitive to it and I do not mind it.

What I was more worried about was that the Monster Micellar Cleansing Water was marketed for use in both the face and eye area. HOLD UP - wouldn't alcohol be too irritating and harsh on the eyes, I thought?! I'm definitely no skincare or ingredients expert by any means, but I couldn't help but feel a little weary by this. So I put it to the test...

AND?

It actually works well to remove both face and SOME eye makeup without any irritation or stinging! However, when it comes to waterproof mascaras and eyeliners, I'd recommend using a separate eye makeup remover to get the job done properly.

Left side of my face with all of my makeup removed using the Etude House Monster Micellar Cleansing Water.

I think that this is a really decent micellar water for the face. It does a fantastic job at removing the bulk of my makeup and priming my face for a more effective oil cleanse or skipping straight to my final cleanser. It's also great for a quick pick-me-up cleanse throughout the day, or for fixing up any makeup mishaps in one fell swoop.

As for the eyes, it did not sting, BUT it's not very effective when it comes to long wearing eyeliners or waterproof mascaras. It does, however, whisk away eyeshadow and regular eyeliners with a gentle touch. I personally always wear waterproof and budge proof formulas for my eyeliners and mascaras, so I opt for a dual-phase eye makeup remover before sweeping the Monster Micellar Water all over the face.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Etude House Monster Micellar Cleansing Water is a cute and relatively affordable cleansing water that is totally worth it to keep on hand for the lazy girl days. If you're like me and still can't perfect a cat-eye in one swift movement, this micellar water will become your best friend - dip a cotton swab in this and you'll achieve the sharp crisp line of your dreams.

When you need a quick cleanse or an all over makeup remover before your actual foam cleanser, I recommend giving this a try. It'll remove the majority of your makeup (minus tough waterproof formulas) and leave you feeling more refreshed.

Probably not THE best micellar water I've ever used, but definitely a good alternative.

  2. I usually am wary about trying new products since my skin is so sensitive, but I'm pleased I gave Liposomal Lypo Spheric® r-alpha lipoic acid canada a go. It has enhanced my skin's general health and helped decrease irritation and redness. It comes highly recommended from me.
