REVIEW: Mizon Oh! Shy Volume Up Lovely Stick -- ONE Contouring Stick, 8 Different Uses!

If you were stranded on an island and could only bring ONE makeup product with you, what would you choose to bring? If I answered this question a few weeks ago, I would have said eyeliner, but after pondering this question for a while, I realized, why choose a product with only one purpose?!

I'm introducing to you guys today... *drumroll please* ... the Mizon Oh! Shy Volume Up Lovely Stick!

There are a lot of beauty trends that are popular in Korea; some are normal to America which we don't even think twice about like having double eyelids, and some are not so common like the aegyosal look. Aegyosal is essentially the little part of fat or plump some people have under their eye which I don't have normally, but I do have when I laugh or smile. Some people view it as being youthful and cute, but don't worry if you don't have it. The Mizon Oh! Shy Volume Up Lovely Stick will come to your rescue. PLUS, this isn't just your average aegyosal pencil, it also works as an allover face multipurpose stick!

WHAT IS THE MIZON OH! SHY VOLUME UP LOVELY STICK?

The Mizon Oh! Shy Volume Up Lovely Stick is a double ended contouring stick One end is a brown eyeliner-looking stick that can be twisted up and the other end is a padded tip that's used with shimmery highlighting powder. However, it's not just limited to drawing the illusion of an under-eye plump! I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to create a whole makeup look using as few products as possible and ended up using the Mizon Oh! Shy Volume Up Lovely Stick, some BB cream, a few swipes of mascara and a bright colored lipstick... nothing else. For those of you that are very low maintenance or like traveling light, this is for you! ;)

Here are the many ways to use the Mizon Oh! Shy Volume Up Lovely Stick:

1. Use the end with the brown creamy stick to lightly fill in your eyebrows if it matches your eyebrow color. This step might not be possible for everyone since we don't all have the same eyebrow color. The brown contouring stick isn't very pigmented, so it is very forgiving even if it's not your spot-on shade.

2. Use the end with the highlighting powder as an all-over eyeshadow. It'll give you a nice and soft pearlized glow to your lids! Remember to use a primer if you want it to last! It's pretty creamy and also doesn't stay well on oily eyelids (without primer).

3. Use the end with the brown contour stick as an eyeliner. It's not a very saturated brown, but rather a soft orange-y brown giving the warm natural look.

4. Now for its intended use: draw the illusion of the aegyosal or under-eye plump!

Step 1: Use the brown contouring stick to draw a line where you want your under-eye plump to end. I usually like to draw it right under where my eyeball would end.
Step 2: Use the highlighting powder to highlight the area above the contoured line you just drew and VOILA!

5. Use the brown contouring stick to contour along the sides of your nose to give the illusion of a slimmer nose or a better shape! My bridge is basically nonexistent, so I'm down for anything that could help define it.

6. Use the end with the highlighting powder to highlight right below your eyebrow arch

7. Use the end with the highlighting powder to highlight the inner corner of your eyes to brighten them.

8. Use the end with the highlighting powder to highlight the top of your cheek bones to help highlight and illuminate your face.

MY COMPLETED LOOK:

I just added two swipes of mascara on each eye and a bright colored lipstick on my lips!

REVIEW:

I love the fact that the Mizon Oh! Shy Volume Up Lovely Stick is a multipurpose product with so many different uses. I can use it to contour my face, as a highlighter, as eyeshadow, as an eyeliner, an eyebrow pencil, etc. It works well in creating the illusion of an under-eye plump (aegyosal), and is perfect for contouring your nose and highlighting areas of your face. It's probably not the best to use as an eyeshadow, for me at least, since I have oily eyelids and it will crease quickly if you don't use a primer. The brown contouring stick has a super creamy formula which is good and bad; it's good because it glides on really easily with no tugging whatsoever, but bad because I sometimes had to use it on the same spot several times before I got any color since it would just come right off.

PROS:

Multi-purpose stick
Easy to use
Creamy formula
Perfect for light weight traveling

CONS:

Only one shade; not universal
Brown contouring stick is more orange-y brown
A little too creamy?
Could be more pigmented

RATING: 3.5/5

This is the perfect item to bring along with you when you're in a pinch and need some quick contouring!

  1. That is a really cool product! It's a shame they don't have more colors. That brown is way too dark for me to contour with.

I do like the shadow, though. It really looks nice on you.

Who'd think that eye bags would be trendy somewhere. I'd fit right in, naturally, just from lack of sleep ^^

  2. Gorgeous!! This item is quite interesting!

To be honest, I never went over level 1 in the makeup game (lipstick and sometimes mascara, ok level 2?) so I envy girls like you who can make wonder (yet natural wonder) with only that one tiny item! That's cool!
