UNBOXINBG: June 2015 BOXYCHARM!

I am so sad to announce that this is my very last BOXYCHARM :'(. I have been a loyal subscriber for a year now. I've enjoyed almost every single box I've received and it was so nice being introduced to new products and brands I would have never known on my own. I'll explain why I'm canceling down at the bottom! For now, here's a look at what I got for the month of June!

WHAT IS BOXYCHARM?

BOXYCHARM is a monthly beauty box subscription service that focuses on beauty products like makeup, skincare, makeup tools, nail polishes and haircare.

Cost: $21 a month

What you get: 4-5 FULL-SIZE and DELUXE-SIZE beauty products

Perfect for: People who want to try new things -- You will be introduced to many well-known and also not-so-known/indie brands! People who like receiving full-sized items. People who like getting a lot of value for their buck!

MY JUNE 2015 UNBOXING:

This month everything was full-size, YAY! This month's theme was Sea La Vie!

Eslor Chlorophyll Lifting Mask - FULL SIZE ($38)

My favorite thing to recieve in my BOXYCHARM, and any other beauty box is skincare. I just love trying out new things on my skin and seeing what works and what doesn't. The Eslor Chlorophyll Lifting Mask almost made me want to keep my BOXYCHARM subscription. Like, what mask is EMERALD GREEN?! How cool is that!

Bellapierre Cosmetics Kabuki Brush - FULL SIZE ($29.99)

The Bellapierre Cosmetics Kabuki Brush is a nice touch to the box. I love it when we receive beauty tools like brushes! This brush is really small. However, the size might help with a better application of makeup because it can easily fit in the hand and you can gain better control.

Doucce Click Click Lipstick in 819 Sexy Copper - FULL SIZE ($24)

I am SO sad about my Doucce Click Click Lipstick. I wanted to love it so badly.  It has a wonderful creamy texture that applies easily on the lips and doesn't emphasize dry skin or fine lines. It has a beautiful gunmetal packaging and is super cool to open: you just click the bottom and pull off the cap! So what's wrong you ask?! THE COLOR :'(. The color varies from BOXYCHARM to BOXYCHARM and I've seen others receive gorgeous shades of bright pinks (my fav) and reds, but what color did I get? NUDE. Not even a pinky-nude, I got a light-brownish nude/copper shade which might look good on others with pale skin or even darker skin, but it just doesn't work at all for me. It matches my tan skin tone exactly and makes me look like I don't have any lips at all. Nude is the one shade of lipstick I can't work with no matter how hard I try.

The Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream - FULL SIZE ($16)

I'm surprised that the Beauty Crop Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream is a full-sized item. The tube looks pretty small to be honest, but don't let looks fool you! This little tube packs a punch when it comes to shimmery color! The shade is a light rose-gold/bronze which is absolutely gorgeous! It's super shimmery and would be perfect to highlight your cheekbones especially for the bright summer months. Also, a teeny tiny dot, will go a long way, so this small tube will probably last you a long while. As you can see in the photo, I just dabbed a dot on my hand, but when I rubbed it out and blended it into my skin, it nearly covered the whole backside of my hand!

I do wish that the opening hole was a bit smaller because it's so easy to accidentally get too much product.

ncLA Nail Lacquer in Volume IV - FULL SIZE ($16)

I actually LOVE the color of the ncLA Nail Lacquer for this month. I received shade Volume IV which is a pretty blush nude.

TOTAL VALUE: $123.99

Overall the value of the box is incredible. Remember, I only paid $21, but the items I received valued almost 6 times the cost!

The reason I'm canceling it is because:
1. I've been receiving a lot of nail polishes which I LIKE, but I'm not crazy about getting one in almost every single box.
2. There's always one or two items I just don't use, so it builds up a lot and takes up space.
3. They have had great brands like tarte in their boxes, but they've also been reusing a lot of brands lately like Ofra, Model Co., ncLA Nail Polishes, etc.
4. Everyone used to get the same things in their box, which I LOVED because I don't like feeling jealous when people get great items in their box and I end up with not-so-great ones. That's not the case anymore though! People have been getting totally different items and there are sometimes great differences in the values between boxes, which sucks!

It totally has been a great subscription service which I don't regret joining! It's a perfect choice for someone who doesn't have a lot of makeup/beauty products or wants to try new things and new brands!

I may or may not resubscribe later on, but for now I'm taking my money and using it on my long time love: KBEAUTY! There's a lot of Korean and Asian beauty subscription services I am DYING to try, so let me know which ones you've tried!

  1. I think the only thing out of that box I would have really liked is the nail polish, but I love nude nail polish.

There are a few KBeauty boxes I want to get, but I don't have the money to get it each month :( It sucks! Beauteque has great boxes, but I've discovered that I can get their box deals that they run and get better items because I can actually choose which colors I want. The last one I got was the Lip Essentials box, that had a lip stick, a balm, lip liner, tint, exfoliant, lip mask for $26USD. It's all good brands, like Etude House, Holika Holika, and Tony Moly.

What Kbeauty boxes do you have your eye on? I'm curious so when I do have the money I can get the best box!

    1. Agreed! The nail polish is a beautiful shade! The Eslor mask and the highlighting cream is also pretty nice! :)

I totally understand. Beauty boxes can be a lot of money if you get it each month, but I think overall, the value you get for what you pay is always good. I think beauty boxes are great for people who don't have a lot of makeup/beauty items already or are exploring a new things like K-beauty.

I've heard about Beauteque, but I have yet to try them! I'm actually really interested in 3BBox, which I've reviewed one box from them before, and MISHIBOX! 3BBox sends you 4-5 sample sized products, but they almost always send 1-2 full sized items and they only cost $12, so the value is always a lot higher. So far, 3BBox is the best one I know about cost-wise and value-wise. I have yet to try MISHIBOX, but I think I'll give it a try for the month of July so I'll have a review out for that. :)

  2. You always put up the the best reviews when I am thinking about a certain product. I was going to buckle down and subscribe to Boxycharm because I heard and seen some great products that I would love to try. But i have noticed so far this year the service has kinda of have gone down more repeats than anything else. And since I trust your PointofVu i don't think I will be subscribing anytime soon. xoxo-Cynthia www.cdelbeauty.blogspot.com

    1. They really do have some great products and brands, sometimes! I LOVE it when they include tarte items! Lately I feel like they have been using a lot of OFRA, Model Co, and nail polishes and I'm not crazy about those things. They have some really great boxes some months and others are just not-so-great! I think you should give it a try if you don't already have a lot of these brands or don't have a lot of makeup already, but if you do, then I think you should pass!
