Today, I'm going to be reviewing the Bio Origin Royal Ampoule B.B. by Hanskin. If there's one thing that Korea knows how to do right, it's BB creams. I was super excited to receive this in my monthly BNT Box, but was slightly worried because normally, Korean BB creams and foundations don't come in a wide variety of shades. Usually they're available in 2 typical shades and both of those shades are always way too light for me.
WHAT'S THE BIO ORIGIN ROYAL AMPOULE B.B?
The Bio Origin Royal Ampoule B.B. is a super anti-aging foundation that offers youthful skin. It has a strong skincare function (hence, the ampoule) and effectively moisturizes and nourishes your skin while providing coverage.
Its dropping pipette allows you to control how much you dispense, so you only use the amount that's needed for your skin. Its easy application allows for dewy and breathable coverage with just a few drops.

REVIEW
Packaging and Design
The Bio Origin Royal Ampoule B.B. is one of the most luxuriously packaged BB creams I have ever used. It comes in a teardrop shaped glass bottle that's a shiny royal purple. It has a white dropper pipette attached to the rose gold cap, which is gorgeous. Everything about it just gives off a very luxurious and elegant vibe!
What's unique about this product, and is something I accidentally stumbled upon, is that if you look inside the bottle, there's a hole that acts like a foundation "catcher"; it catches the excess foundation from the pipette and pulls it from the dropper, so there's no way to have foundation accidentally drip all over the place! I'm a huge fan of the innovative packaging!

Ease of Use
I've never tried an Ampoule BB cream before this, but I have tried a few serum foundations. They are both similar in the fact that the foundation itself is very lightweight. These two specific types of foundations also blend in like a dream. The moment you start rubbing it in, it 'melts' and effortlessly spreads and glides all over your skin without caking up or clinging onto dry spots. The difference is that the ampoule BB is a lot thicker than serum foundations and when dispensed on my hand it wasn't runny. It was as thick as an ampoule usually is, which is a really good thing and I prefer it over serum foundations which tend to be too runny. That being said, the dropper is the best way to dispense the product and to control how much you want to use. Having a dropper instead of a pump dispenser makes it a breeze to use!
It might seem like there's not a lot of product in the bottle (35 ml), but you only need a few drops to cover your whole face so this product will definitely last a while!

Texture and Scent
The texture of the Bio Origin Royal Ampoule B.B. is just what you would expect: it's thick and resembles that of an ampoule, but tinted. The foundation is very moisturizing and hydrating on making this a foundation perfect for cooler and drier months like the fall and winter. The foundation, though thick, easily spreads and melts onto the skin forming a very breathable layer of coverage.
Effectiveness/Wearability
The texture and formulation of the Bio Origin Royal Ampoule B.B. makes it really easy to blend in creating a "second skin" finish. The foundation is extremely lightweight and breathable and it doesn't feel like I have any makeup on when I'm wearing it. It adheres to the skin really well without caking up or clinging to dry spots making it seem like it's barely there, but providing a medium coverage! This is the perfect foundation to use during the cooler and drier months since it's super hydrating and nourishing for the skin.
I tend to have dry skin with those pesky dry flakes, but this foundation didn't emphasize it; instead it helped moisturize my dry skin! I think combining an ampoule with a BB cream is a fantastic idea and I would definitely recommend to anyone, especially to those suffering from dry skin!

RATING: 4.5/5
Overall, the Bio Origin Royal Ampoule B.B is an amazing foundation! It's a foundation that's perfect for cold months when your skin becomes too dry. It helps nourish and hydrate the skin while providing lightweight and breathable coverage. I just wish there were more shade options for this! The one I reviewed today doesn't have a specific shade on the bottle (maybe I missed it since it is all in Korean?), but it seems as though there's only one shade available! The shade itself is actually very forgiving and blends out to fit most light skin tones, but I'd prefer a darker shade that would be a better match for my medium complexion.
The Bio Origin Royal Ampoule B.B. by Hanskin (35 ml) retails for roughly $35 and is available at KoreaDepart.com, HERE!
