REVIEW: Tosowoong Cocoon Monster Pack

Hi loves, I'M BACK! :D

I took a small break partly because I caught a really bad cold that left me feeling drained and practically dead for about a week, and also because I finally got to go home from college for Thanksgiving. I wanted to use as much time as possible to hang out with my friends and family, so I wasn't able to update my blog with many reviews during these past few days. I haven't been home since August and I was SO homesick!

But anyway, I'm back now and catching up on a LOT of reviews that are long overdue! :) Hopefully I'll be able to keep my reviewing schedule constant from now on, but I might have to take another short break to focus on my finals and then I'm free for a whole month (that means more time to play with products and write reviews for you guys)! :D

Today, I'm going to be reviewing the Tosowoong Cocoon Monster Pack that was kindly sent to me for review from Cupidrop (thanks Kate and the whole team)! The Cocoon Monster Pack is actually part of Tosowoong's Monster line of products which also includes the Monster Soap and the Cocoon Monster Oil Foam. I recently reviewed the Cocoon Monster Oil Foam (HERE), so I was super excited to give the Monster Pack a try.

WHAT'S THE COCOON MONSTER PACK?

The Cocoon Monster Pack by Tosowoong is an intensive multi-functional pore care mask pack that gets rid of blackheads and whiteheads, as well as tightening enlarged pores and lifting sagging skin all at once.

This mask pack contains Syn-ake Peptide and Epidermal Growth Facter (EGF) which work to firm the skin while silkworm cocoon proteins and Galactomyces work to hydrate and nourish.
Other notable ingredients include volcanic ash which gently exfoliates while Bifida enhances the skin's barrier.

REVIEW

Packaging and Design
The Cocoon Monster Pack is a member of Tosowoong's Monster skincare line. The packaging and spooky aesthetic matches that of the Cocoon Monster Oil Foam. What's different from the oil foam is that the Monster Pack comes in a short all-black squeeze tube with a matching black flip-top cap. The tube itself is actually pretty flimsy, but that's not a bad thing because it makes it almost effortless to try and dispense the product inside. Initially, when I cracked open the product and used it the first few times, I noticed that the product would ooze out on its own, but it's because the tube itself is packed to the brim with the mask pack! After the first few tries, the tube was a lot easier to handle.

Texture and Scent
The texture of the pack is very unique when compared to regular creamy mask packs or clay ones. The Cocoon Monster Pack is actually a very clear, runny and liquid-y texture, almost like a watery gel. Its runny texture makes it really easy to squeeze out of the tube and apply, which helps when you need to quickly slather the pack all over the face before the mask starts drying!

The scent of the Monster Pack is one of my favorite things about it. It smells like a fresh lemon/citrus scent, like the kind of lemon scent you would expect from clean kitchen lemon soap.

Ease of Use
HOW TO USE: Apply a generous amount to entire face avoiding the eyes & mouth area.  Leave on for 15-20 minutes to completely dry.  Wash off with lukewarm water. Use 2-3 times a week.

Like most masks, this one is just as easy to use, but more fun! I apply a generous amount all over my face, which is a breeze to apply thanks to the watery gel texture of the mask. Once applied, the mask starts to dry pretty quickly, and I started noticing the "magic" happening. As the mask dried, it constricts and pulls on your skin as it tightens and dries some more. It literally makes me look like an old granny LOL! I know it sounds a little crazy (and 100% cool), but don't worry! It's not painful whatsoever, but it does feel a little uncomfortable as I approached the recommended 15-20 minutes. I wouldn't say that this mask is gentle, but it's also not harsh... It's just so unique in it's own way and it makes my skin feel uncomfortable, but nothing bad.
As the mask fully dries it begins to crack; it feels very stiff and it does make your face feel dry and itchy! However, this is totally normal for the mask and it means that it's doing it's magic! After about 15-20 minutes, I washed it off of my face with no problem; a few splashes of water immediately took the tight and stiff mask right off.

Performance
The Cocoon Monster Pack definitely falls into the category of fun and functional skincare products! My face felt SO fresh and clear after using the mask like it sucked out all of the sebum and gunk from my pores as it pulled on my skin. The tightening of the mask as it dried actually made my face feel tighter and more firm once I rinse it off! My pores on my nose and on my cheeks were noticeably tight and lot less visible. Now, this mask didn't help to remove my whiteheads or blackheads, but it did remove sebum from the pores in my nose and made my complexion look more even throughout.

PROS:

Fun and easy to use
Deep cleans pore by removing sebum
Tightens and firms skin
Leaves skin feeling clean, clear, and refreshed
Evens out complexion

CONS:

Causes some discomfort (itchy and pulls on skin!)
Didn't help removing whiteheads/blackheads as it claims

FINAL THOUGHTS?

Despite feeling a little uncomfortable and itchy once the mask starts drying up, I really enjoyed using this fun and functional mask pack! The Cocoon Monster Pack helps to clean out your pores while also tightening not only your pores, but your skin as well! What I was left with was bright and clear skin that was firm to the touch. The mask wasn't too harsh nor did it leave my face feeling overly dry (despite it's intense tightening power when applied). I highly recommend this mask for all skin types, especially if you're searching for a product that will clean your pores along with tightening and revitalizing your skin!
