REVIEW: THELAVICOS Enzyme Washing Powder

One product that I've noticed gaining a lot of popularity and exposure lately is powder cleansers. Powder cleansers can have a lot of benefits for a lot of many reasons. One of the more obvious reasons is that they're super travel friendly (they aren't considered a liquid, of course), so you can bring along on the airplane or if you're just pretty accident-prone like me and want to avoid messy spills when going on weekend trips! One of the more important reasons though is that they're surprisingly more natural and skin-friendly than your typical liquid, gel, or foam cleansers! Powder cleansers don't require as many preservatives (if any at all) or alcohol as the other liquid based cleansers do, so that means less unnecessary ingredients for your skin! :)

Today, I'll be reviewing the THELAVIOS Enzyme Washing Powder, which is actually my very first powder cleanser! ^ o ^

HP&C THELAVICOS ENZYME WASHING POWDER

The Enzyme Washing Powder comes in a very simplistic white plastic bottle with a flip-top cap. The design on the bottle is very plain and doesn't have much besides black lettering and a single red foiled stripe running along the bottom of the cap. I've never tried anything from the brand HP&C THELAVICOS, so you could imagine my surprise to find out that the brand is quite high-end and luxurious. The Enzyme Washing Powder itself is set to cost somewhere between 4-50,000 won! For a pricey cleanser like this, I would have hoped the packaging would be better, but I didn't expect much from a cleanser that's supposed to be travel-friendly. Not to mention, the bottle was actually only half full (or half empty, depending on how you look at it), so it feels a little skimped out on. Powder cleansers, however, do last forever anyway since you only use about a teaspoon for each use!

Despite the ordinary packaging, the Enzyme Washing Powder really makes up for it with the quality of the actual product! It is water-activated and contains papain and protease ingredients which work to effectively eliminate the skin's dead cells, freeing up rough and clogged skin. It also claims to have a low pH, similar to that of skin, but I am unable to actually test it because I don't have any pH strips with me. I can however agree that it is super gentle on the skin and is non-irritating and non-sensitizing.

To use this powder cleanser, begin with wet hands and a wet face. Take an appropriate amount of powder (about a teaspoon) and mix in with water by rubbing your hands together, creating a nice lather. Then, apply onto the wet face by gently massaging in circular motions. Then rinse and finish up with the rest of your skincare routine!

What I like about this powder cleanser, and powder cleansers in general, is that you get to customize to to fit how your skin is feeling that day and your skin type. You can create a thick creamy foam out of this cleanser by adding small amounts of water, which is perfect for those days where you want a gentle exfoliation too, OR you could add more water to create a gentle and frothy lather for those really sensitive days (or for those with sensitive skin)!

After just the first use, my skin was noticeably softer and incredibly smooth, like baby skin! Surprisingly, you can't feel the exfoliation at all! It's just a soft gentle foaming cleanser that magically smooths your skin without being rough or abrasive at all! The Enzyme Washing Powder gently polished my skin with the finely milled powder and left me with an even canvas, free from flakey skin! The cleanser foams up SO well which really surprised me for a powder cleanser. It also does a decent job cleansing and I really like using it as a second cleanser, after I remove my makeup. It left my skin feeling clean, and refreshed! Plus, it didn't dry out my skin or make my face feel unbearable tight.

Overall, I really enjoyed using the THELAVICOS Enzyme Washing Powder! It works well as a two-in-one cleanser/exfoliator that can be gentle enough for daily use! It's customizable to work with your skin even on its most sensitive days and it leaves my skin super soft, smooth, and polished.
