REVIEW: Pony Effect Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact + Loose Powder

It came to a very big surprise to me when Pony released her new Mattifying Blur Powders. Dewy skin had been a huge thing in the K-beauty world for as long as I could remember, so it was so strange for me to see a powder promising matte skin! Pony had actually launched TWO products in completely different forms: The Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact and the Mattifying Blur Loose Powder! Both of these products are designed to help control excess oil, while also providing your skin with a flawless matte finish that blurs away any imperfections. The Mattifying Blur Loose Powder itself looked perfect for the 'baking' trend and I couldn't wait to give it a try. I'm very picky with face powders because they tend to dry out my already dehydrated skin, but I decided to gives these a chance and boy, am I glad I did!

So lets jump into the review! :D

PONY EFFECT MATTIFYING BLUR POWDER

Keep your face velvety soft and smooth all day with the Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact and Loose Powder. Both of these translucent powders have a hint of yellow that brightens dull complexion. Its silky finish is perfect for setting makeup and touching up oily spots!

The Mattifying Blur Powder comes in two forms: a pressed powder and a loose powder. Both of these powders have a slight yellowish tint which gives the skin a brighter appearance without adding a white cast. Despite the hint of yellow, these powders are completely translucent and provides the skin with a velvety matte finish that blurs away imperfections. Both of these powders contain Daffodil, Cotton Flower, Portulaca, and Aloe Vera Leaf extracts which help improve the skin's water-oil balance. Plus these powders offer sebum control which helps soak up excess oil and keep your face shine-free all day!

MATTIFYING BLUR PRESSED POWDER PACT

INGREDIENTSTalc, Silica, Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Magnesium Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Phenyl Trimethicone, Boron Nitride, Dimethicone, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Narcissus Pseudo-Narcissus (Daffodil) Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Diisostearyl Malate, Mica (CI 77019), Methicone, Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Fragrance

The Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact (8g) comes in a slim navy-blue circular compact that features a very secure magnetic closure. Included inside the compact is a clear, high-quality mirror that's a pretty big size making touch-ups on the go very feasible! Plus, there's a puff hidden in a secret compartment beneath the powder pan, so everything you need is all in one pact!

The pact opens up to a wide angle (not a complete 180 degrees) that allows you to see not only the powder but also the mirror for easy usage!

The included puff works extremely well for application of the powder and especially for touch-ups throughout the day making it very travel-friendly! There's no real need for a supplementary brush or anything like that, but the product can also be applied with a powder brush if you don't like using puffs.

The pressed powder has a slight yellowish tint to it which helps brighten the skin's complexion without creating an awkward white cast. Don't worry though, it doesn't brighten up your foundation to the point where it looks like a different shade! The powder is super smooth and completely translucent so it doesn't affect the color of your foundation at all. The Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact does have an instant mattifying effect on the skin which creates a 'soft focus' in which your makeup looks brighter, softer, and blurred out. It's like real-life photoshop!

The Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact not only helps absorb oil and give my skin a matte finish, but it also helps minimize the appearance of my pores making them noticeably small or nonexistent! It helps smooth out my complexion without making my foundation look cakey or dry and it doesn't emphasize any dry skin or rough textures. It actually looks like second skin!

I've been carrying the Pressed Powder Pact in my purse everywhere I go, but I rarely ever feel the need to touch up because the mattifying effect last about 7-8 hours before I notice any shininess at all.  I tend to have really dehydrated skin, but an oily T-zone area, especially around my nose! I can never get through a day of school without coming how to see an oily nose. With the pressed powder pact, I don't notice much oil production even after 7 hours! At the 8 hour mark, I do notice it wearing away slightly as some shininess surfaces to the top, but after reapplying the pressed powder, it disappears. This really helped keep my sebum and oil production at bay and kept my face shine free. Surprisingly, my makeup on the rest of my face stayed in tact well after 12 hours and still maintained the matte 'soft-focused' look!

I've tried a bunch of others out there like the Tony Moly Cats Wink Clear Pact and the Peripera Oil Capture Pact, but this is a clear winner. The Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact helps control sebum product for long-wear, keeps makeup in tact much longer, and has a matte finish that seriously lasts all day! Plus it helps blur away imperfections that none of the powders I've tried before were able to do.

MATTIFYING BLUR LOOSE POWDER

INGREDIENTSTalc, Mica (CI 77019), Silica, Nylon-12, Lauroyl Lysine, Magnesium Myristate, Boron Nitride, Phenyl Trimethicone, Gossypium Herbaceum (Cotton) Extract, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, Narcissus Pseudo-Narcissus (Daffodil) Flower Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Methicone, Aluminum Hydroxide, Water, Dipropylene Glycol, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, 1,2-Hexanediol, Iron Oxides (CI 77491), Iron Oxides (CI 77492), Iron Oxides (CI 77499), Fragrance

The Mattifying Blur Loose Powder (10g) comes in a navy-blue circular container that's similar to the Pressed Powder Pact, however it's about twice the size! Unlike the powder pact, only the top half of the loose powder container is navy blue while the he bottom half features a see-through section that showcases the powder. Another thing that sets it apart from the pact is that it features an old-school snap closure that clicks shut instead of a magnetic closure.

Included inside the loose powder container is a clear and decently-sized mirror as well as an applicator puff. The loose powder is covered by a netted separator that helps control how much powder the puff picks up. It makes it a little difficult to access the powder, but I like how it keeps me from picking up too much! Admittedly, the whole container is a bit bulky, but the bigger packaging accounts mostly for the larger-than-normal applicator puff.

The first thing you see upon opening the Mattifying Blur Loose Powder is the fluffy and thick puff placed right on top of the access point of the powder. It's an ideal shape and material made for buffing the powder all over the face! I like using the puff, but it can apply the powder a bit unevenly at times. It can be hard to control how much powder it deposits on the skin and where, so I'd recommend using a separate powder brush for more uniform application!

Similar to the pressed powder pact, the loose powder also has a slight yellowish tone to it which aids in brightening up the skin's complexion without creating a ghostly white cast, or any cast at all. The powder is finely milled and goes on translucent and like the pressed powder pact, it doesn't change your foundation shade! However, I find that it provides more long-wearing matte coverage than the pressed powder pact. It also provides the skin with a 'soft focus' effect which gives you a brighter, softer, and blurred out finish to your makeup, like a skin perfecting tool!

In my experience, the Mattifying Blur Loose Powder works a bit better than the pact in terms of a fuller, more complete matte coverage. It's non-drying and helps my skin look really smooth while also disguising all kinds of rough and uneven skin textures. I only need to apply this ONCE and my makeup will last all day (tested in a 12 hour period) and come out unscathed -- it has the same virtually poreless matte finish just as when I first applied it! It's multi-purpose and can be used not only to set foundation, but also for 'baking' or even as a makeshift dry shampoo. I love to use this on my lower lids to help prevent my mascara and eyeliner from smudging throughout the day and it works incredibly well. If you have a problem with eye makeup smudging on the lower lid happening throughout the day, try this method and I swear, you won't see them again! :)

Here I am 'baking' my under-eye area! This helps prevent eye makeup smudging and also keeps your concealer from creasing throughout the day!

FINAL THOUGHTS

Both the Mattifying Blur Pressed Powder Pact and Loose Powder are amazing products that help blur away the skin's imperfections while giving the skin a brighter, 'soft focused' finish. I love both of these, but for different occasions. I prefer the Pressed Powder Pact especially for travel and for touch-ups on-the-go because it comes in a handy pact that's slim and purse-friendly. The puff it comes with works well for even, allover application, so there's no supplementary tools needed. It provides the skin with an instant matte finish that will wear for 7-8 hours which is usually enough for me. I also like to use the Pressed Powder Pact when I'm in a rush because it's quick and easy to apply.

On the other hand, I prefer the Loose Powder when I need a more long-wearing matte coverage. This baby will last ALL. FREAKING. DAY. It's also ideal for 'baking' and setting the under eyes with because it's so finely milled and won't dry out the skin. It helps prevent my eye makeup from smudging even past 12 hours of wear! It's seriously a bulletproof powder. The packaging is a lot bulkier than the pact, about twice the size, so I wouldn't really bring it along for traveling, if you're trying to travel light.

All in all, I'd recommend both of these powders, hands-down. I've tried many pressed powder pacts and loose powders, but I haven't found one I love as much as these!
