REVIEW: Missha Super Aqua Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch + Bubble Sheet Mask

One of the biggest skincare concerns I have has to do with my pores - everything from blackheads, sebaceous filaments (the "blackhead lookalikes" caused by excess sebum, mostly on the nose), to congested pores. I've gone through hundreds of products claiming to remove blackheads and treatments aimed at clearing my pores, but it's very rare for me to find a product that actually works. So when I do come across one, I just HAVE to write a review about it and share it with you guys! :D

Today's review is on the Missha Super Aqua Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch and the Pore-Kling Bubble Sheet Mask. And *spoiler alert*, the Nose Dual Patch is the most effective and gentle nose treatment I've ever tried.

MISSHA SUPER AQUA PORE-KLING NOSE DUAL PATCH

First off, lets start with the Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch not only because it's my favorite, but if I were using these two mask treatments together, I would use the nose patch first and then finish up with the sheet mask.

The Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch is a 2-step blackhead nose patch with Italian mineral water which purifies pores and brightens skin.

INSTRUCTIONS/APPLICATION (photos taken from MisshaUS.com):

The Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch is a two-step nose treatment that is meant to help clear pores and minimize their appearance. The first step is removing the blackheads (technically sebaceous filaments) on your nose. I have such an oily T-zone that my nose is constantly plagued with pesky black dots all over, and trust me, it's never a pretty sight.

Let's get up close and personal (yikes) before I get in to the nose patch! Here is a before picture of my nose basically on any given day with no nose treatment at all just for your comparison. As you can see there's TONS of black dots all over :'(

The first step of the Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch consists of a cotton nose patch, basically a sheet mask made just for your nose, that contains sparkling mineral water which helps purify pores.

Once placed on the skin, there's an immediate cooling effect that lasts throughout the whole duration (10-15 minutes). Plus it's very soothing, relaxing, and gentle on the skin! After the time was up, I removed the Step 1 patch and proceeded to swipe a cotton swab across my pores to gently remove any loose blackheads.

To my naked eye, the cotton swab was just slightly yellow (the color of sebum and dead skin cells, ew), but I could already start to see a major difference with my nose. My skin felt smoother and it helped remove sebum from the surface, but there was still several blackheads remaining here and there.

Now on to Step 2, which is meant to tighten pores and soothe the skin. It consists of a similar cotton nose sheet mask to Step 1, but this time it was completely drenched in essence. The essence contains apple mint and lime extract which helps to tighten loosened pores. It felt a little slimey on the skin, but also very nourishing and moisturizing!

After 20-30 minutes, I removed Step 2 and seriously could not believe it. Most of my blackheads/sebaceous filaments have completely disappeared and I was left with ultra clear pores. I was so surprised by the results because after the first step, it still looked like the SF's in my pores were still present here and there. However after removing Step 2, the majority were gone! My pores' appearance is so minimized to the point where I can barely see them.

The Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch is a super gentle treatment that's more effective than any gruesome nose strip I've ever tried. There's absolutely no pulling on the skin or tugging at the pores, but just a series of mini sheet masks for your nose that makes blackheads a thing of the past. The effects aren't long-term though, but they do last a few days after use and that's good enough for me. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who has blackheads or SF's stuck in their pores and is looking for an effective nose treatment!

MISSHA SUPER AQUA PORE-KLING BUBBLE SHEET MASK

The Pore-Kling Bubble Sheet Mask is a bubbling sheet mask with Italian mineral water which purifies pores and brightens skin.
INGREDIENTSSodium Bicarbonate , Citric acid, Cellulose Gum, Vinyl Caprolactam/VP/Dimethylaminoethyl Methacrylate Copolymer , Vaccinium Myrtillus Fruit /Leaf Extract , Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Acer Saccharum(Sugar Maple) Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract , Ascorbic acid, Onsen-Sui , Water

INSTRUCTIONS/APPLICATION:

The Pore-Kling Bubble Sheet Mask is a 2-part mask that consists of applying the CO2 Pore Gel first and then the actual mask.

The CO2 Pore Gel is a clear thick gel that smells really refreshing, like sparkling water! Since the mask comes with a TON of product (over a handful), I just slopped it on allover my face in a very thick layer, sort of like how you would a jelly mask (if you don't know what that is, then just do a very thick layer allover the face).

Then I applied the mask part to my face directly after applying the gel. The mask part is completely dry and comes in two separate pieces, a bottom half and a top half (more like forehead piece). It has such a weird texture that reminds me of a table cloth I have at home - it's plastic-y on one side and then a net + cotton fabric mixture on the other.

The first thing I want to mention about this mask is that it just does not stay on the face! It's really hard to adhere to the skin and even though there are a few slits on the mask like near the chin, the mask does not stay on! :( There's wrinkles and flaps sticking out all over, but mostly on the chin area. Overall, the fit and adhesion is just very poor.

Secondly, I felt an immediate burning sensation as the mask forms with the gel and carbonation is produced. On the Missha's website, it says that it's normal to feel slight irritation, which is attributed to the carbonation forming. The burning sensation does subside in about at minute or less, but honestly it's hard for me to trust a mask that feels that uncomfortable on at first. They also claim that you may experience slight redness afterwards, but afterwards you'll have bright skin. Luckily, I didn't notice any redness, but again, just beware that these things can happen... *side-eye* Also, even though this is called a 'bubble sheet mask' the carbonation happens beneath the mask and not on top of it like many others, just FYI!

After I removed the mask, I surprisingly loved the results despite the questionable burning sensation. I noticed a much brighter and even complexion and my dull skin was revitalized. Plus, the carbonation not only helped to clear out my pores, but also gently exfoliate my skin leaving me with ultra soft, baby smooth skin and minimized pores! There wasn't much moisturizing despite the layering on of gel, but it's not a moisturizing mask so I didn't expect it to.

I didn't like using this mask, but I did love the results. What you can expect is a brighter and more even complexion and purified pores which this mask delivers (through some questionable methods...). This mask needs some major improvements, like being more gentle for one, and adhering better too. If it fixed some of those problems, then yes I'd probably repurchase it and give it another go. I wouldn't recommend this for those with sensitive skin, because it'll be too harsh!

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch is a life-saver and one of my holy grail products for nose treatments. It clears up blackheads and sebaceous filaments with ease and is ultra gentle on the skin. It does take a long time to do the whole treatment though, like 40 minutes, but it's worth it to put the time aside for something this effective and gentle! This I would recommend over and over and over again!

As much as I loved the Pore-Kling Nose Dual Patch, I can't say the same for the Pore-Kling Bubble Sheet Mask. This sheet mask had a uncomfortable burning sensation the moment the mask combined with the gel (it's supposed to be "normal"), but it's hard for me to love something that isn't skin friendly. It's such a shame because I loved the effects! It gave me a brighter complexion, smoother and softer skin, as well as purified pores. Overall, I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone despite the great results because it was just too uncomfortable and harsh on the skin. :(
