REVIEW: YSL Touche Éclat Blur Primer + Touche Éclat Blur Perfector

I was recently sent an Influenster box and was shocked to see that it was a box with Yves Saint Laurent beauty products! Can you just imagine my level of surprise and giddiness?! :D YSL is one of my all-time favorite high-end makeup brands, so I was beyond excited to test out two of their newer products: The Touche Éclat Blur Primer and the Touche Éclat Blur Perfector.

This review will be VERY picture heavy because lets face it, the packaging is gorgeous (it's GOLD!) and I loved taking photos of these products!

I received a FULL-SIZED Touche Éclat Blur Perfector and a DELUXE-SIZED Touche Éclat Blur Primer. The primer is about 1/3 the size of the full-sized product and doesn't come with a spray nozzle like the full-sized one does.

THE YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT BLUR PERFECTOR

"The first blur on-the-go. Instantly transforms from a balm to a powder to sweep away shine and imperfections."

Upon opening up the box for the YSL Touche Éclat Blur Perfector, I realized that it came with a thin, black, and velvety sleeve to hold the perfector compact and a small applicator puff.

The design of the blur perfector itself is stunning; it has a glossy baby pink cover with 'YSL' in gold and the whole compact is gold throughout. YSL never ever disappoints when it comes to packaging design. Literally, always A+!

Notice that there is no button or place made to open up this compact. To open, you just grip the top cover and pull it open. It's not difficult to open, but having a button to pop open the compact would be a teeny bit easier. However, leaving out a button to press does help improve the sleek visual aspect of this product.

What I don't like about the compact is that there is no room or hidden compartment for the applicator puff. They included a black sleeve for you to carry the compact and the applicator, but that makes losing the applicator more prone to happening because it can just slide out!

Inside the compact is a well-sized mirror to use when applying or for quick touch-ups on the go.

Now the perfector itself is a light baby pink shade that is really pretty. Upon a closer inspection of the product, I noticed that there are very minuscule specks of gold in this perfector. They're so small that I don't notice it on my skin especially when I apply this over my foundation.

You can use this perfector in THREE different ways:
1. Alone as an all-over complexion perfector
2. To set makeup
3. As a mattifying touch up during the day

Initially, I really enjoyed using this product, but later realized that I didn't like the high maintenance of the applicator puff. First of all, the packaging is absolutely gorgeous; it's PINK with gold and it's so chic and pretty. The perfector itself is also a pale pink which I was a bit skeptical at first, but when using in place of foundation, it really brightens and livens up your face. It's a lightweight product that feels silky to the touch. The perfector helps in evening out my skin texture and giving it a somewhat 'blurred' effect by minimizing the size of my pores and making my small wrinkles unnoticeable.

I prefer using it in place of foundation instead of over my makeup because when applying it on top of my foundation, it tends to rub off my foundation making the applicator dirty. This perfector is fast absorbing and gives you a matte finish. Plus, the Touche Éclat Blur Perfector is unscented as far as I can tell!

THE YSL TOUCHE ÉCLAT BLUR PRIMER

"The first radiance boosting primer. Formulated with four nourishing oils, skin is left incredibly soft without greasy residue. Immediately, pores look diminished, skin feels smoother and skin tone is more even and luminous."

The full-sized primer comes with a spray so you're able to spray the primer directly onto your face, but the deluxe-sized version I'm reviewing today does not.

The primer comes in a clear bottle with a small white 'spatula' applicator attached to the cap. The cap is the iconic YSL shade of gold.

This is a clear primer which is my ideal type of primer because it doesn't leave that ghostly white cast under your makeup. There are tiny gold specks in this primer, but they're TEENY so it doesn't look like your face is full of glitter. The gold flecks help illuminate your face when you're wearing this primer under your foundation; it looks especially gorgeous when the light shines on your face giving you a nice subtle glow.

The primer has a very soft and silky consistency. When applied, it instantly blurs our your imperfections by minimizing your pores and your wrinkles. It softens up and evens out your skin texture. This lightweight primer is not greasy or sticky at all and is fast absorbing. The end result is that your makeup goes on flawlessly; there's no pores showing through or anything! This primer truly helps give you that blurring effect. Unlike the perfector, the primer does have a scent! It has a light floral perfume scent that smells really pleasant. To my knowledge, most YSL products contain this scent.

However there is one downside to this primer... If you wait a long time to apply foundation after applying this primer, it tends to pile up into little balls which can be very frustrating! I don't run into this problem when I apply my foundation directly after using this primer.

I definitely love using both of these products, but they're just a little tricky to use and get used to. Both the primer and the perfector look gorgeous on the skin, but another downside is the hefty price tag.

If you had to buy just one product, I would recommend the primer over the perfector just because it's much easier to apply and you notice a bigger difference when using the primer.

Here are photos of me using both the blur primer (under my makeup) and the perfector over my makeup. My skin here looks amazing and almost pore-less, but I promise I didn't touch them or edit them at all (I really don't know how to use photoshop or anything LOL)!

  1. Lucky duck! I heard about that box and was madly hoping that I'd get chosen for it xD

Both products look so nice. I really love the luxurious look of the products. It's a shame that the puff that comes with the blur perfecter doesn't have a place in the compact.

I can really see a glow in the pictures you posted. If they weren't so expensive I'd definitely give them a try!

    1. Aw I'm sorry you didn't get chosen for it! :( I haven't been chosen for a box in months and then this one appeared, so I was SO excited hehe.

I know Sephora had a promotion where they gave the deluxe sized YSL primer out as a gift w/ promotion, so definitely snag that if they have it again! :) I like the primer a lot more than the blur perfector anyway and that sample is like 1/3 of the full size!
