REVIEW: Heimish All Clean Balm

Cleansing is without a doubt the most important skincare step out of your entire routine. Whether you  wear makeup or not, it's essential to remove the daily dirt and grime (and makeup, if you wear it) your face accumulates throughout the day. If not, it could result into clogged pores, acne, and many other unwanted obstacles that'll keep you from a clean and clear face!

One of the best ways to wash your face is to do a double-cleansing routine, which usually consists of a first cleanser, typically an oil cleanser, and a second cleanser, which is usually a foam one. One of my favorite first cleansers to use is not exactly a cleansing oil, but a cleansing balm. It has all the power of a cleansing oil, but with less mess!

Today, I'll be reviewing one of my new found loves that was sent to me from Ohlolly: the Heimish All Clean Balm! HINT HINT: It's definitely a Banila Co. Clean It Zero dupe, but a more natural alternative with better ingredients!

HEIMISH ALL CLEAN BALM

INGREDIENTSEthylhexyl Palmitate, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Triisostearate, Polyethylene, PEG-8 ISOSTEARATE, Shea Butter, Donkey Milk, ,Cocos Nucifera Fruit Extract, Citrus Aurantifolia Fruit Extract, Freesia Refracta Extract, Iris Versicolor Extract, Jasminum Officinale Extract, Lilium Tigrinum Extract, Leontopodium Alpinum Extract, Nelumbium speciosum, Narcissus, Rose Extract, Citrus aurantium dulcis, Lavender Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Extract, Amyris Balsamifera Bark Oil, Citrus Paradisi Peel Oil, Eucalyptus Globulus Leaf Oil, Tea tree leaf oil, Juniperus Mexicana Oil, Boswellia Carterii Oil,Citrus Aurantium Bergamia Fruit Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, 1, 2-Hexanediol

The Heimish All Clean Balm comes in a super chic tub with a pink tropical leaf print all along the cap and the box! Heimish is seriously always winning with their absolutely beautiful packaging and I just adore it so much. Cute packaging aside, the tub is made of a super study hard plastic that almost feels borderline glass to me. It's just so strong and durable like glass, but without the fragility.

It's a decently sized tub that contains 120 ml of product and has a retail value of $22 on Ohlolly. It's a bit pricier than Banila Co., which has a retail value of $18, but keep in mind that Banila Co.'s Clean It Zero only has 100ml of product.

The cleansing balm comes with an included spatula that's hidden under the twist-off cap. It has a special compartment made just for storing it on the inner protective lid! Packaging gets an A+ from me!

Now if you have no idea what a cleansing balm is, it's essentially a solid version of a cleansing oil. To use, scoop out an appropriate amount of the cleansing balm and apply onto dry skin, even if you have a face full of makeup! Massage it onto your entire face and it'll begin breaking down your makeup, sunscreen, and the everyday dirt that accumulates on your skin. It can also be used to remove eye makeup and lip makeup, but be careful to not get it directly into your eyes or mouth. I usually save the eyes/mouth for last because it gets messy. Then, rinse off with lukewarm water and you're done!

The Heimish All Clean Balm has a very solid consistency straight out of the tub. When applied onto the skin, it melts easily into a smooth and silky oil that's not runny or drippy! The reason why I prefer cleansing balms over cleansing oils is that it's mess-free. There's absolutely no icky oil running down your arms or oils dripping from your face as you massage it in. It stays on the face and remains there! The oil feels very lightweight and gentle when working into the skin, making it ideal for all skin types, even those with sensitive skin! The only thing I'm not fond of from this cleanser, is the scent -- it has a very earthy, herbal scent that I'm not a fan off. It smells very natural because there's no added fragrance, but I personally prefer unscented things, or either floral or fruity scents!

The gentle oil spreads easily onto the skin and breaks down makeup, sunscreen, and dirt almost instantaneously! The balm then emulsifies into a milky consistency when water is added and washes off effortlessly. I'm left with clean, dirt-free skin that feels smooth, soft, and most importantly, supple! The cleansing balm doesn't strip the skin of its natural oils, but instead nourishes it with it's citrus herb oils. I'm left with revitalized and refreshed skin that's not dry or tight. I also noticed a clearer and brighter complexion after use!

It eliminates makeup really well, even waterproof mascaras, sunscreens, and eyeliners! I accidentally got some in my eyes when removing mascara, but thankfully it doesn't sting at all. It does give me blurry vision, but it quickly goes away with water. All cleansing oils and balms I've used have given me blurry vision, so it's not really a problem to me, but nevertheless avoid getting it into your eyes!

Here I applied swatches of my most long-wearing and long-lasting makeup to show you how powerful the All Clean Balm is! Swatches include foundation, liquid matte lipstick, eyebrow pencil, pencil & liquid eyeliner, eyeshadow, and waterproof mascara! As you can see, it melted everything right off and it didn't even leave a trace!

Do I like it more than the Banila Co. Clean It Zero? Well, the Banila Co Clean It Zero has been my ride-or-day bae since day one, and I've been running back to it for 3 years now (that's when I really got into skincare and K-beauty). The Heimish All Clean Balm works incredibly well with cleansing the skin and removing everything off of my face, leaving behind clear and supple skin, as does Banila Co.'s Clean It Zero. Though the Banila Co. Clean It Zero isn't as moisturizing, it does have a better scent in my opinion. Truth be told, you couldn't go wrong either way because both have the same great cleansing power, but I do want to point out that the Heimish one has a better ingredients list, which makes me prefer it slightly more. It contains natural ingredients, is paraben-free, and hypoallergenic making it perfect for all skin types, while the original Clean It Zero may not be because it contains added fragrance and mineral oil!

FINAL THOUGHTS

The All Clean Balm is another win for Heimish in my book! It works exceptionally well with removing makeup (even waterproof!) and cleansing the skin, all while leaving me behind with a smooth, clear complexion and supple skin! I love how the ingredients are very natural and there's no added fragrance, but I'm not a fan of the earthy/herbal scent -- that's just my personal preference. The noticeable effects definitely outweigh the one con, which is easy for me to overlook. It's a piece of cake to use, gentle on the skin, and washes away all the unwanted dirt and grime with ease. It's definitely comparable to the Banila Co. Clean It Zero, but though I prefer the original Clean It Zero scent much more to the All Clean Balm, Clean It Zero contains added fragrance and mineral oil which isn't friendly for all skin types.

Ultimately, the Heimish All Clean Balm works wonderfully and I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the market for a new makeup remover or a cleansing balm!

  1. Heimish is a brand I didn't know yet, but the ingredients lists sounds really good. I tried the Banila Balm and I like how effective it is and I could consider to try cleansing balms from other brands like this one aswell.

    1. I didn't know about Heimish until recently either, but their products are so high-quality, at least from the stuff I've tried so far! If you haven't tried many cleansing balms yet, I'd definitely recommend this one as well as the one from Botanic Farm! :)

    2. Heimish's creators are actually some of Banila Co's old workers if I've heard correctly, so its quite similar to Banila Co but I think it has an improved formula.

  2. Hi Mary! Great review, makes me wanna try the Hemish balm out! <3 I have one question though, after massaging the balm on your face, do you need to use a tissue or cotton pad to wipe the balm off? Or could you just wipe it off with water? I've tried the LUSH ultrabalm before and it was so tedious because without a tissue it would leave a stubborn film on your face. Thank you!

    1. Hi Sabrina! :D

I'm glad you liked the review. :) After massaging the balm onto the skin, you could do either way honestly. It really just depends on your preference!

I personally prefer to rinse off with water because the balm transforms into a white milky substance once water touches it making it rinse off very easily. You could also wipe off with a tissue, BUT whichever way you choose, you should follow up with a second cleanser to get off all the residue! I don't notice much of a film after use, but I always like to double cleanse whenever I use oil/balm cleansers. I view the balm as more of a makeup remover/first step cleanser that lifts off dirt and makeup because it's more of an oil, and the second cleanser (I like foam cleansers) is the one that actually cleanses the skin.

  3. I absolutely love the Heimish All Clean Balm! I was on youtube and i was nearly convinced to buy the Clean it Zero but i stumbled across a review comparing the two saying HACB has a better ingredient list and just as effective. I have been using it on my dry skin and it works so well, there is no need for me to double cleanse (sometimes i will go in with my foam cleanser)!

  4. Do you use another cleanser after, keeping with the two step process, or does this one fulfill both steps?

    1. Hi Tam!

Yes I use another cleanser afterwards - I always use a cleansing balm or oil for my first step and finish with a foam cleanser. The Heimish All Clean Balm leaves a very slight film on the skin, so I'd always recommend using a second cleanser to make sure you have everything off. Hope that helps! :)

    1. No, the Heimish All Clean Balm didn't clog my pores! It actually helped me remove the gunk from my pores, but I do recommend using this with a foam cleanser to make sure there is no residue left on your skin.

  7. Hi! Can I use this cleanser balm? I have combination and acne prone skin, or do you know other cleansing oils for my skin type? What do you recommend me? I'm looking for something not too expensive and without parabens :(

    1. I personally don't have acne prone skin, so I can't say for sure, but I think this cleansing balm should be fine. I have the ingredients list in the review and there doesn't seem to be any parabens!

  8. Thank you for the review! I have dry skin and I think I'm going to like it. I have no idea that I have to remove my sunscreen with cleansing oil 😶 Have you tried to wipe the balm with micellar water? Or just with water is good enough?

    1. Yes I think it's a must, since sunscreen is really hard to remove with a regular foam cleanser. If you use a cleansing balm, you should rinse it off with water because it emulsifies when water is added. I always follow up oil cleansing with a second cleanser, either a foam or a micellar water will work!

  9. I've also heard that the Heimish Cleansing balm is made by the same people who created Banila's Cleansing balm (unsure if this is actually true hehehehe)
Regardless, this is definitely a product which I'm excited to try and perhaps even review as well!
