REVIEW: Pony Effect Unlimited Cream Shadow

I feel like it's been FOREVER since I've done a Pony Effect review, but I'm finally getting back on the grind - sorry for being so MIA! Pony is constantly releasing new products nonstop and among her most recent product launch is the Unlimited Cream Shadow! The Unlimited Cream Shadow is, as its name suggests, a long-lasting cream shadow with a silky soft formula. To my knowledge, there's not many cream shadows floating around on the K-beauty market, but Pony is always producing cutting-edge makeup products so I couldn't wait to try these out!

So without further ado, lets get to the review! :D

PONY EFFECT UNLIMITED CREAM SHADOW

Pony Effect's Unlimited Cream Shadow is creamy, glides on like a dream, and blends seamlessly. It also sets quickly so your color is crease-free, long-lasting and resistant to sweat and water.

The Unlimited Cream Shadow comes in a circular glass pot with a shiny rose gold twist-off cap. The packaging itself is very elegant and classy giving off a luxurious vibe. Pony is always slaying the packaging game! The Pony Effect lightning bolt logo is engraved into the center of the cap, but my favorite part about it is that even though the rose gold cap is reflective, IT DOES NOT ATTRACT FINGER PRINTS! I really wish Pony would do this with all of her shiny rose gold packaging because they're literally magnets for fingerprints, but surprisingly these remain free from fingerprint smudges!

The packaging for the Unlimited Cream Shadow also has some weight to it, which adds to it's luxurious look and feel. It feels like it's made of expensive, high quality materials and definitely gets an A+ for presentation!

The Unlimited Cream Shadow comes in 8 different shades varying from matte and shimmer finishes:
OPEN-MINDED  |  HEARTWARMING  |  HIGH STANDARDS  |  BELOVED
FUTURE PROOF  |  PAPARAZZI  |  OVER IMAGINATION  |  X-FACTOR

***SIDE NOTE: The eye swatches are done with only one layer of eyeshadow. These shadows are definitely buildable and the full intensity (what you see in the jar) can be reached with 1-2 layers.

#OPEN-MINDED

Open-Minded is a nude beige in a matte finish. This particular shade reminds me of a concealer because it's similar to my skin tone and also because it has a slightly thicker consistency than the rest of the shades. It's an ideal base shade that works wonders as an eyeshadow primer! Because of its thicker consistency, it grips on and holds onto other layers of eyeshadow really well. When worn as a base under the other Unlimited Cream Shadows, it helps extend the wear time of each as well as improve color payoff.

#HEARTWARMING

Heartwarming is a warm sandy tan in a matte finish. This shade also works really well as a base shade, but it feels slightly more emollient than Open-Minded. Heartwarming is smooth, creamy, and blends easily providing even coverage onto the lid.

#HIGH STANDARDS

High Standards is a milk chocolatey brown with a slight warm undertone. It has a matte finish, which makes this the ideal cream shadow to sculpt and contour the lid. It blends out easily and evenly to help add definition onto the lid - it's my go-to crease shade to help add dimension!

Also, as you can see in the photo below, there's a little water or "sweating" that's formed, so it's crucial to store these in a cool, dry place. I accidentally left these sitting out in the sun for a little while, but it didn't affect the texture or how the shadow applied (thankfully)!

#BELOVED

Beloved is a light peachy coral with golden shimmers. This shade was a teensy bit grittier than the other shades, but on the lid, the shadow applied smoothly and the glitters weren't chunky. The shadow still blended out evenly onto the lid and works great as an all-over lid shade!

#FUTURE PROOF

Future Proof is a shimmery golden champagne hue. It blends out really well onto the lid providing an even wash of color. It's ideal for highlighting the lid or specific areas like the middle of the lid or the inner corner of the eyes! This shade is the most versatile as it goes well with almost any look. It's become a staple for me!

#PAPARAZZI

Paparazzi is a fiery orange-coral with pink shimmers. This is the perfect vibrant and eye-catching hue ideal for the summer/spring months! Unfortunately, the formula wasn't as great as the other shades - it was easy to blend out, but it applied very unevenly and patchily. Though, it's easy to fix by applying on another layer to even it out!

#OVER IMAGINATION

Over Imagination is a burgundy plum with fine pink micro glitters. It's not as shimmery as the other shades and has a more semi-metallic finish. This is another shade that accidentally became a little too emollient as I left it out on the sun for a little bit, and it was hard to get good color payoff since there was so much slip to it. It was very easy to blend even though the color kept sheering out, but with two layers the pigmentation was stunning.

#X-FACTOR

X-Factor is a mocha brown with an iridescent blue-green shift. It's hard to capture the true essence of it in the pot, but the shift is more noticeable in my eye swatch. This is my favorite shade out of all of them because it's so unique and unlike any Korean shadows/cream shadows I've ever tried. The formula was also a breeze to blend and it gave my lids an even wash of color!

The majority of the Unlimited Cream Shadow have a solid buttery/balm-like consistency in the pot but turns into a very silky and thin cream texture that reminds me of melted butter as you dip your finger into the jar. The only exception is #Open-Minded which was a smidgen thicker than the rest and reminded me of an eye base.

The product instantly melts in contact with your finger when dipping into the pot, transforming into a very thin veil of product that surprisingly provides intense color payoff. It's so lightweight and thin on the lids that I often forget I'm wearing any shadow!

As a tip, you must work fast when blending out the eyeshadow because the Unlimited Cream Shadow dries down and sets incredibly quick! The pigmentation for these cream shadows is insane and they go on fairly opaque with the exception of #Paparazzi and #Over Imagination which apply a bit unevenly and patchily. These particular hues require an additional layer of product or a base/primer underneath to help make the color show through better.

A little truly goes a long way with these - you barely need to dip your finger or brush into the product to get enough color for your whole lid! These shadows are definitely buildable and you can layer on more product depending on whether or not you want a sheer wash of color all over the lid, or intense opaque color. Because the formula of these shadows is so thin, it's crucial to allow some time for the initial layer of eyeshadow to dry before applying additional layers. If you apply it too soon, it can end up moving around the layer underneath if it's not allowed time to set!

I tend to shy away from cream shadows because they always crease on my eyelids, but the Unlimited Cream Shadows are incredibly long-lasting and do not budge even after 6 hours of wear and that's without any primer! Around the 6-7 hour mark, I do notice that the shadow's color payoff has lessened and faded a bit, but I don't notice any creasing until about 8 hours of wear. These shadows will easily last through a long night out and you'll return with makeup unscathed!

For my eye makeup, I went for a more neutral-toned look. I first used #Open-Minded as a base all over my lid and then buffed #Heartwarming onto the edges of my crease as a transition shade. I also buffed #High Standards into my crease to contour and add definition to my eyes. Next, I took a bit of #X-Factor and applied that to my inner and outer lid, making sure to leave the middle of my lid clean. Lastly, I dabbed #Future Proof onto the center of my lids to highlight and add dimension.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Unlimited Cream Shadow was definitely another hit product for me! Pony has done such a good job with her eye products lately and these do not disappoint. If you want intense color payoff and pigmentation then these are for you! The cream shadows are easily blendable and the majority of them provide even color with just one layer of application (some require two). They're incredibly long lasting once they set, and they do not budge. Even without primer, I did not notice any fading until 6-7 hours of wear and creasing until the 8 hour mark! That's a pretty fantastic feat considering other cream shadows I've tried usually crease on me within the first hour. These are fairly easy to use and can be applied with your finger, or with a brush.

I highly recommend giving these a try, but my absolute favorite shades have to be #Open-Minded, #High Standards, #Future Proof and #X-Factor. #Open-Minded is the ultimate eye base for your shadows while #High Standards can double as an eyeshadow, and also an eye contour shade. #Future Proof can brighten up and highlight any eye look and lastly, #X-Factor is just hands-down one of the coolest shades I own due to it's unique iridescent shift!
