REVIEW: It's Skin Power 10 Formula Propolis

My skin has been at its worst lately with these little unknown red bumps making their home on my cheeks. :'( I seriously do not know what happened or where they came from because my skincare routine has stayed the same for the past two weeks and out of the blue this happens! Of course, I went into a total state of emergency and have been using propolis and nightly sheet masks in hopes of running these pesky red nuisances away...

I guess one bright side to this is that I get to fully put my current propolis to the ultimate test. Today I'll be reviewing the It's Skin Power 10 Formula Propolis, courtesy of Chuusi.ca, that I've been testing out for the past few weeks!

WHAT'S THE POWER 10 FORMULA PROPOLIS?

The Power 10 Formula Propolis is a highly concentrated serum enriched with honey and bee propolis extract to protect, heal, and prevent troubled skin with its anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and healing effects. (Taken from Chuusi.ca)

REVIEW

Packaging and Design
The packaging for the Power 10 Formula Propolis is very simplistic and has an aesthetic that leans towards the scientific part of beauty with its silver label that has measurement dashes running along the sides. The bottle is made of a transparent yellow glass with an all black squishy rubber dropper. The size of the pipette attached to the dropper is a decent medium size that makes it easy to control the amount dispensed. There is a plastic cap that covers the black dropper, but I'm not entirely sure what the purpose of it is. It does make it easier to close shut; I like to put the dropper back in the bottle, put the clear plastic cap on top and twist it shut, but it's definitely not a necessary part of the bottle.

What I love about the design of this bottle is that the mouth of the opening is just big enough to fit the pipette, meaning that it pulls off all the extra ampoule that's covering the pipette, so there's no drippy mess! The design of the bottle is A+, but there's no big eye-catching aspect of it.

Ease of Use
HOW TO USE: After toner, dispense 2-3 drops into palm and gently pat onto face and neck until fully absorbed.

The directions say to use 2-3 drops of the propolis, but I'm the kind of girl that uses about 6 drops because I like to make sure I cover every inch of my face and 2-3 drops just isn't enough for me. The design of the bottle is easy to use and I love how the pipette dispenses just the right amount with each squeeze and doesn't go overboard. Some pipettes can be too large which causes too much product to accidentally come out if you're not careful, but there's no worry with this one.

The Power 10 Formula Propolis also absorbs quickly on the skin and doesn't leave a sticky or greasy feeling when it dries. It has a soft velvety finish once it's dry and is very light on the skin! Here's a before and after photo below and as you can see there's no "film" or layer of product on top of the skin (no stickiness!); it doesn't just sit on the surface, it actually gets fully absorbed into the skin!

Texture and Scent
The texture of this semi-opaque ampoule is like that of a serum. It has a slightly thick texture that's not too runny, but as you rub it in and apply, it becomes really thin and liquid-y. It's incredibly lightweight and feels just like water on the skin!

From the photo above, you can see how watery the consistency becomes once it starts to get rubbed in.

The Power 10 Formula Propolis has a very delicate scent. It smells of a sweet floral that's not too strong or overpowering.

Effectiveness
The lightweight consistency of this ampoule is very hydrating and moisturizing on the skin. It creates a soft and luminous glow once I wake up in the morning and my face is brighter and more supple. However, it wasn't nearly as effective in healing my blemishes as I had hoped. The redness from my blemishes and the bumps themselves were reduced, but not as much as I would have liked for them to be. I used this ampoule for about 3 weeks straight and noticed that my blemishes and skin irritations were reduced day by day, but they never completely went away. It's definitely a working propolis ampoule, but I know a few others that are more potent and stronger that can heal my blemishes faster than this.

PROS:

Design of bottle = no messy drips
Easy to use & control
Hydrating
Skin is more supple
No sticky/greasy feeling

CONS:

Reduces blemishes, but not as effective as others

The It's Skin Power 10 Formula Propolis is a decent ampoule that works by reducing blemishes and redness, but it's not the best that I've tried. It's extremely gentle and doesn't leave a sticky or greasy finish which is a huge plus. I would recommend this for all skin types, especially those with sensitive and acne-prone skin!

The Power 10 Formula Propolis by It's Skin (30ml) currently retails for $10.68 and is available HERE!

    1. I haven't tried a ton of propolis ampoules, but out of the ones I've tried, the Pure Heals one is my favorite!
