REVIEW: Labiotte Wine Lip Balm (White Wine, Rose Wine, Red Wine) + BB Cosmetic Coupon

In today's installment of wine-shaped makeup (because who can have enough wine-shaped makeup, right?!), I'll be reviewing the Labiotte Wine Lip Balms courtesy of BB Cosmetic!

I've been eyeing these lip balms for quite some time now mostly because I love collecting insanely cute beauty products and Labiotte always slays this category. Labiotte is a beauty brand that produces both makeup and skincare, however they're most know for their wine collection, which contains real wine extracts in their makeup. Their popularity sky-rocketed and they became known even here in the USA for their Wine Lip Tints (review here). If you're curious, the rest of their wine makeup collection also includes the Wine Angle Mascara, Wine Eye Shadow Palettes (though not shaped like a wine bottle, sadly), and Wine Fitting Lipstick. They also have a wine glass-shaped balm cleanser that I've been eyeing too!

Without further ado, lets get to the review :)

P.S. There's a special coupon at the bottom of the post to save you some money at BB Cosmetic

The Wine Lip Balm is a tinting lip balm that contains French wine extracts as well as organic grape seed oil! It provides the lips with a variety of wine-colored hues that's moisturizing and nourishing.

Labiotte is always killing it with their packaging. I mean who doesn't love wine-shaped things?! No one, the answer is no one. ;) The Wine Lip Balms come in a miniature wine glass-shaped container that just exudes both cuteness and luxuriousness. Not only is it adorable as hell, but it is also very practical - it fits comfortably into the palm of my hand and I can easily grip the base/stem of the wine glass to twist off the cap. It's pretty small so it's perfect for traveling or carrying along in a purse. Just imagine how cool you would look whipping this out in public... UH YES PLEASE.

The Wine Lip Balm comes in 3 different shades varying from a natural hue to one that's just like wine stained lips! The three shades are:
WHITE WINE    |    ROSE WINE    |    RED WINE

Before I get into each individual lip balm, here is a photo of my bare natural lips for reference:

01 WHITE WINE - Don't be fooled by appearances - White Wine looks like the darkest, but it's actually a mostly clear balm with a very pale pink hue that enhances your natural lips. On the lips, it gives off the slightest pink tinge that just looks like your normal lips, but improved. White Wine is ideal for daily use especially if you have dull lips because this makes it a little more lively.

02 ROSE WINE - Rose Wine is a vibrant coral that brightens up the lips. It's a very sweet and feminine hue that adds a slight pop of color to one's face while still looking natural thanks to it's ultra-sheer formula.

03 RED WINE - Red Wine is, as its name suggests, a red wine hue. It gives the lips a more enticing and sultry vibe than the other two, but still looks natural because of the super sheer formula. This shade gives the lips more oomph and makes the lips appear fuller.

All of these lip balms have an ultra-sheer formula with a glossy finish, which provides the lips with a natural tinge of color, but nothing over-the-top. It's buildable, but to an extent - you can build up the color mostly for Rose Wine and Red Wine, but since it's sheer, your natural lips will always still be visible.

It's not heavy on the lips, but I wouldn't say it's lightweight either - the glossy finish can feel a bit sticky, but that's what helps it adhere really well to the lips. It doesn't transfer or budge easily, which is something not often seen with lip balms! I barely see it getting affected even with eating, drinking, or even licking my lips! Once on, it creates a unique film on the lips that's surprisingly long-lasting and wears for ~6-7 hours before it starts wearing off. It sits on the lips well and that's probably due to it's slightly sticky nature. I personally don't mind it, but just know it's not your average kind of lip balm!

The coolest and most notable thing about the Wine Lip Balms is the texture and formula. These are the most unique, coolest, and albeit weirdest texture I've ever witnessed - it boasts an "intense elastic complex" or in other words it has a very firm jelly or "gummy" texture (it's so similar to the texture gummy candy). Unlike most balms I've tried, it's not at all soft or goopy where it'll get scooped up under your nails (does anyone else hate that?), but it's just really firm to the touch! I couldn't get through it no matter how much pressure I exerted onto it. Plus, it smells just like grape juice!

Usually, I hate lip products that feel sticky on, but I actually really appreciate this one because it allows the lip balm to be long lasting. With most lip balms, I find myself having to constantly touch-up during the day, however that's not the case with this one! Once it's applied, it really stays in place because it creates a film that just adheres well onto the lips. It instantly transforms my dry and dull lips to ones that look more supple, nourished, and plump. There's no budging, clinging to dead skin, or settling in fine lines, and most importantly no awkward white ring around the inner lips (if you know what I'm talking about). Plus, it keeps my lips feeling hydrated and doesn't dry out my lips at all throughout the day. With the two most pigmented hues, Rose Wine and Red Wine, it also gently tints the lips, but it's nothing too dramatic - just a very soft and even stain!

FINAL THOUGHTS

I think I've found my new favorite everyday lip balm! Not only is it cute beyond belief, but it's super affordable and actually works really well with nourishing the lips. The Wine Lip Balm has a really unique and  firm "gummy" texture that can feel a little sticky on the lips, but the stickiness is what helps it adhere and stay on for hours. It creates a glossy film over the surface of your lips that instantly nourishes the lips making them feel hydrated and supple. It's almost like a barrier that protects the lips all day! White Wine is great for those who want a mostly clear coverage with the slightest hint of pink, while my two favorite shades, Rose Wine and Red Wine, offer a more noticeable wash of color. If you're into very natural, minimalistic makeup, or just need some cute and effective lip care, I highly recommend this. Plus with the cheap price tag, you can't go wrong!
